1. Introduction

Modern Slavery amounts to a violation of an individual’s human rights. Modern Slavery encompasses slavery, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking whereby individuals are deprived of their freedom and are exploited by commercial or personal gain as enacted in the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (‘the Act’). The prevention, detection, and reporting of modern slavery in any part of its business or supply chains is the responsibility of all those working for Kalamazoo IT.

We are committed to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking. We recognise that slavery and human trafficking is a real yet hidden issue in our society. We will not tolerate slavery and human trafficking in our business or supply chain. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that any form of slavery is not taking place in our own business or supply chains.

Kalamazoo IT operates in IT supply and support for all organisations.

The IT business applies local resources to assist customers with their systems. The business does not trade with and country or region where forced labour or slavery are considered prevalent, nor is within a high-risk industry. Our supply chains are short and predominantly commence within the UK.

  1. Relevant Policies

We operate several internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:

  • Recruitment – we operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting eligibility to work in the UK checks for all employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will. Kalamazoo IT does not rely upon agency or short-term employees and all the eligibility of all new employees to work in the UK is carefully checked.
  • Open Door and Whistleblowing – our open door and whistleblowing policy ensures that all employees know that they can raise concerns about how colleagues are being treated, or practices within our business or supply chain, without fear of reprisal.
  • Health and Safety – this policy sets out our approach to ensure we provide a healthy working environment for our staff.
